Court Updates on R. Kelly, Lori Vallow, Larry Ray's Pollock
The Piper, the Killer Mom and the Family Lt.
R. Kelly found guilty on three counts of child pornography.
If you've been following the R. Kelly case, you know it is multi-faceted with many witnesses and victims, as well as people who are scared who are having "memory issues". Thankfully, one such witness came forward - so bravely - to nail down the child pornography suit against R. Kelly. This week, it came to a head.
R. Kelly charged with child pornography.
A Chicago jury found R. Kelly guilty of child pornography for taping his sexual encounters with underage girls, according to multiple reports, just months after the R&B singer was sentenced to three decades in prison in a separate sex trafficking case.
The trial surrounded the 2008 child pornography case against the singer, with the teenage victim now testifying as one of the star witnesses. Identified in court as “Jane,” the 37-year-old admitted to being in the leaked video showcasing explicit activities that led to his prior arrest. At the time, she and her family denied she was in the video.
Kelly, 55, was found guilty on three counts of child pornography and three counts of enticing a minor, but was acquitted of a conspiracy to obstruct justice charge accusing him fixing his state child pornography trial in 2008.
The family did their child a favor in finally deciding to come forward with the truth, after years of suffering with their silence. This alone shows the power of one victim coming forward and becoming a survivor who speaks truth to abuser. One voice. As Celia Williamson says "It starts by talking about it".
The "Preparing a People" Female Half of the Cult Leader Team Sentenced
Vallow, 49, who was dubbed “doomsday mom” in the high-profile case, was a pageant queen and a Mormon mother who lived with Daybell in Rexburg, Idaho, on a property where the bodies of her two children were discovered June 9, 2020, according to the New York Post.
Nate Eaton, news director at East Idaho News, was one of the first reporters on the case involving Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell. Rexburg, Idaho, typically doesn’t have a lot of major crimes or murders, so Eaton was expecting something, but not at all what developed. A few days before Christmas, the police department released a statement that discussed two missing kids: J.J. and Tylee. The statement indicated that the parents were not cooperating.
There is currently an issue in the court for cameras.
Late last month, attorneys for Vallow Daybell asked the judge to ban cameras from the courtroom, contending one news organization abused the privilege to videotape the proceedings when it repeatedly zoomed in on Vallow Daybell's face during an Aug. 16 hearing. The attorneys, Jim Archibald and John Thomas, claimed the cameras and microphones could potentially be used to overhear private conversations or to view private notes on the defense table.
"You've named off 35 major media organizations, which tells me that there is huge interest in putting all the information out to as many people as possible,” 7th District Judge Steven Boyce said Thursday. He told attorneys he would decide soon whether to change how — or if — cameras will be allowed in the courtroom during the criminal case of Lori Vallow Daybell and her new husband, Chad Daybell.
Larry Ray Family Recruitee and Lieutenant
Ray, 62, drew the group of young adults into a cult-like “family” after moving into his daughter’s Sarah Lawrence dorm room in 2010.
At his trial, numerous victims testified that Pollok acted as Ray’s top lieutenant, including Drury, who told jurors that the pair tortured her in a hotel room for hours after Ray became enraged at her.
The sadistic fiend forced one woman, Claudia Drury, into prostitution and collected some $2.5 million from her over four years. Pollok and Ray tortured her for hours in a Manhattan hotel room in 2018 to ensure she kept working.
During the ordeal, she was handcuffed to a chair and suffocated with a plastic bag.
Ray, 62, was found guilty at trial of 15 counts – including sex trafficking, violent assault and money laundering and faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum of life when he's sentenced.
The plot began after he moved into his daughter's dorm room in 2010 at the pricey private college about 30 minutes north of Manhattan.
He gradually asserted control over the group of women and one man after they fell into his sinister orbit.
Check on your college students. Check on this story. This cautionary tale happened at a liberal college in New York, right in front of everybody. He controlled several people for a decade using a variety of control mechanisms including threats, bribery and more. We'll be watching what sentenced are handed down. The damage is done.
